Blackman is president of the Greater San Francisco unit No. 21 of B’nai B’rith, where he has just completed his first term.

He also serves as president for the San Francisco Humanities, a nonprofit foundation, and has spent more than a half century serving communal causes, Jewish and civic alike.

The Jewish Vocational Service Agency recently honored Blackman at its 25th anniversary celebration for his role as one of its founders.

Guest speaker for Sunday’s event will be Milton Jacobs, past grand president of B’nai B’rith’s fourth district and current vice president of its Golden Pacific region.

Blackman’s friend Cantor Itzhak Emanuel, a concert artist and interpreter of Sephardic and Ladino music, will present a musical tribute.
