At Sunday’s chat, Otzma participants want to discuss religious pluralism, Jewish-Arab relations and their own volunteer work, particularly to those interested in traveling to Israel and learning more about the Otzma program. Ted Kahn will be the moderator in San Francisco.

Rabbi Brian Lurie, president of the Jewish Museum, who conceived of the Otzma program nearly 15 years ago, said, “I think it’s the best program of its kind offered to our diaspora youth. We want to spread the circles of involvement to encourage more people to think about going on Otzma.”

Daisy Colchie, education program coordinator at the Jewish Museum who helped plan the event, said typically visitors to Israel “have to wait [until] after the trip to articulate what they saw. This time we get to know what is going with them right as it’s happening.”

The online chat will also help kick off the national Jewish Web Week, located at www.jww.org, which highlights the life of Judaism on the Internet.
