Last summer interns’ projects included: Organizing the American Israel Public Affairs Committee’s “Back to Campus” night, writing stories for the Jewish Bulletin, planning and executing a workshop on interviewing techniques and job-search skills for fellow interns, and providing services to the community’s elderly population.

Participating agencies include AIPAC, American Jewish Congress, Bureau of Jewish Education, Holocaust Center of Northern California, Jewish Community Center of San Francisco, S.F.-based Jewish Family and Children’s Services and Anti-Defamation League’s regional office.

The eight-week internship begins June 12 and continues through Aug. 4. Each student receives a stipend of $1,500.

Selection is made on the basis of academic performance, interest in working in the Jewish community and demonstrated leadership qualities.

Candidates must be Jewish undergraduates who have completed at least one year of college and who maintain primary residence in the S.F.-based Jewish Community Federation or Jewish Federation of the Greater East Bay areas.

Application deadline is April 1. In-person interviews are required before the deadline date. Students will be matched to internship sites on the basis of their skills and interest in the agency. For information, call JVS at (415) 782-6220.
