new york (jta) | Drumming up dollars for Jewish education remains a struggle. That’s why the New York-based Avi Chai Foundation and the Jewish Funders Network created a matching-grant program, allowing the donor to choose the beneficiary.
Among the donors is Aaron Sasson, who gave $50,000, which was matched by Avi Chai, to the Contra Costa Jewish Day School in Lafayette.
Yavneh Day School in San Jose also received a matching grant, San Francisco’s Jewish Community High School of the Bay received a $15,000 three-year Bookshelf grant, and Hebrew Academy received both a Bookshelf and preparatory track grant. San Francisco’s Jewish Partisan Education Foundation also received funding.
