Documentary explores adopted daughters roots

“Off and Running,” a documentary about an adopted daughter of Jewish lesbians who struggles to connect with her African-American roots, will screen at the San Francisco

Doc Fest Film Festival. The screening is at 7 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 18, at the Roxie Film Center, 3117 16th St., S.F.

Directed by Nicole Opper, “Off and Running” explores race, identity and family as the film’s subject attempts to contact her birth mother. The film was made possible in part by a grant from the Foundation for Jewish Culture.
