Teens with an artistic flair have a new place to show off and hone their talents: the JCC of San Francisco.

GenSF, the teen program at the JCCSF, is introducing an innovative series of workshops for teens to explore music, theater and art with peers and creative professionals. Sessions begin Sept. 28, and no previous experience is required.

Teens will be able to choose from three workshops: Starting a Band, in which musician instructors will help students start a band, rehearse songs and perform on stage; Creating the Role with Nick A. Olivero, artistic director of San Francisco’s Boxcar Theatre company, who will take teens through the basics of acting; and Making Visual Art with artist Cheselyn Amato, which will allow teens to experiment with a variety of artistic media.

The workshops will culminate in an exhibit where participants can showcase their skills and creations.
