Correspondent | December 3, 2010 Berkeley filmmaker Justine Shapiro of Berkeley will present her soon-to-be-released documentary, “Our Summer in Tehran,” at 7 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 9 at Congregation Emanu-El, 2 Lake St., San Francisco. The film documents a trip by Shapiro and her young son Mateo to Tehran, where they spent the summer with three Iranian families. Shapiro co-produced and co-directed the 2001 film “Promises,” which received an Academy Award nomination for best documentary and won two Emmy Awards. “Promises” features seven Israeli and Palestinian children living in and around Jerusalem who cross borders to meet each other. Shapiro will be present for a Q&A after the film. The free event is co-sponsored by Congregation Emanu-El and the Jewish Community Relations Council.
