Ceremony features teens, artwork at Oshman JCC

Teen participants and staff from this year’s Shalhevet trip to Poland and Israel will take part in a closing ceremony at 11 a.m. Sunday, June 12 at the Oshman Family Jewish Community Center in Palo Alto.

Taking part in the ceremony will be local Holocaust survivor Ben Stern, who accompanied the teens on their trip. A gallery of original artwork by Shalhevet 2011 participants also will be on display. The reception takes place in the Freidenrich Conference Center, 3921 Fabian Way.

Funded in part by the S.F.-based Jewish Community Federation, the Jewish Community Endowment Fund, the Taube Foundation for Jewish Life and Culture and the Bureau of Jewish Education, the Shalhevet program annually takes Bay Area 11th- and 12th-graders on  the two-week trip.
