Hazon bike ride right around the bend Facebook Twitter Email SMS WhatsApp Share By J. Correspondent | May 16, 2014 The fifth annual Hazon Golden Gate Ride and Retreat is set for Memorial Day weekend, May 23 to 26. Registration is still open for the ride, which starts with an optional Shabbat retreat at Walker Creek Ranch in Petaluma that includes food, educational workshops, outdoor activities and a Havdallah dance party. A leisurely ride will take place on May 24. The main ride begins on May 25, with first-day routes of either 40, 60 or 80 miles, all promising amazing views. On the second day, the options are 31- or 48-mile routes, ending with a ride over the Golden Gate Bridge and a celebratory gathering at the Jewish Community High School of the Bay in San Francisco. Registration fees depend on factors such as age, participation levels and lodging. Riders must do their own fundraising, either by pledges or other means, which helps to finance the ride and other Hazon programs. Crew members also are needed to support the cyclists on the road. As of early this week, more than 75 riders and 25 volunteer crew members had signed up. Riders Michele Ban ($5,847) and Sue Reinhold ($5,778) were the top fundraisers so far, while the team fundraising leaders were Ban2Ban ($6,225), Team Kitchen ($5,778) and Urban Adamah ($4,239).
