Cantor David Margules (right) of Congregation Rodef Sholom recites the Shehechiyanu on opening day of the new, slow-pitch Bay Area Torah Softball League. Four local synagogues have teams in the coed league, and an inaugural eight-game season is planned. On opening day May 18 at McInnis Park in San Rafael, Emanu-El (San Francisco) beat Kol Shofar (Tiburon) and Rodef Sholom (San Rafael) beat Beth Sholom (San Francisco). For Rodef, Margules delivered the game-tying hit and then scored the winning run. Organizers want the league to grow, so interested players or teams should contact Matt Elkins at [email protected].
