George Zimmer toasts Rabbi Yosef Langer photos/andy altman-ohr

Lavish appetizers, a gourmet five-course dinner and Jewish community were the order of the night June 12 at Modern Hamish: Kosher Pop-Up Dinner Party, a first-time event in San Francisco hosted by Chabad Rabbi Yosef Langer and businessman George Zimmer. Held at the S.F. Digital Film School, the event was sold out, with more than 90 people paying $75 each for a night of kosher delicacies prepared by chef Isaac Bernstein, along with wine pairings and a cocktail party with hors d’oeuvres. Langer says the kosher pop-up dinners will be an ongoing thing, with a second in the works for late July (date and location to be announced).
