Tomer Or and Maor Hatoel of Israel are slated to compete in an international fencing event in San Francisco this weekend.

The Men’s Foil World Cup is a three-day competition that starts Friday, Oct. 17 at Kezar Pavilion, 755 Stanyan St. It will bring together Olympians, world champions and other fencers from 32 countries.

Or, 36, is a 10-time Israeli national champion who finished 17th at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing and fifth in the European championships last year. Hatoel, 28, peaked with an eighth-place finish in the world championships in 2010.

A foil is a type of weapon used in fencing; the others are sabre and epee. The World Cup is a series of up to five events held each year around the world. For ticket information and other details, visit www.mensfoilworldcup.org.
