The Nutik Zitter family of Oakland received a mysterious surprise this week: Someone decorated the temporary toilet in front of their house to look like a sukkah. There’s a proper covering on top (shach) and even a sign attached that reads chag sameach (happy holiday) in Hebrew. The only question: Who did it? A neighbor? A member of their synagogue? The construction workers? Though honored and tickled, the family has no idea. They do live in a somewhat Jewish neighborhood near an Orthodox synagogue, Beth Jacob Congregation.
