The Oshman Family JCC in Palo Alto has received a major boost toward its $54 million Comprehensive Campaign.

The Oshman family, who made the lead gift to build the JCC on the Taube Koret Campus for Jewish Life, has again taken the lead by offering a $5 million matching grant for the Fulfilling the Vision Capital Campaign in memory of Ken Oshman.

The new gift is designed to spur other individuals and organizations to give generously to help the JCC build a community park, sculpture garden and other capital projects that will enhance the campus experience, as well as reduce original construction debt. The $5 million grant will match gifts from new donors up to $250,000 each.

The JCC’s five-year, $54 million campaign will underwrite these capital improvements and provide long-term financial stability for the JCC.

In announcing her family’s challenge gift, Barbara Oshman said, “We are thrilled with the role the OFJCC has had in increasing the vitality of Jewish life in the South Peninsula and the impact it has made on the entire community. Strengthening connections to Jewish culture and Jewish values has always been important to our family and we hope others will join us in raising the funds needed to make our beloved JCC an even more vibrant home for the entire community.”

Zack Bodner, the JCC’s chief executive officer, said the organization is “profoundly grateful to the Oshman family” and called the grant “a tremendous leap forward as we strive to fulfill both the vision and the communal dream that brought the Oshman Family JCC to life.”
