Next year’s East Bay Community Trip to Israel will be more than just a journey to the Holy Land. It also will include an optional trip to Poland.
Organized largely by the Jewish Federation of the East Bay — in partnership with 15 East Bay synagogues and the JCC of the East Bay — the trip will be the community’s second to Israel, following a successful 2013 excursion that included 142 travelers from their early 20s to late 70s.
Next year’s trip, “Alight: Israel,” is scheduled April 19-28, with an optional pre-trip to Krakow and Warsaw from April 14 to 20. The trip to Israel includes up to five customized excursions every day, each exploring different aspects of Israeli culture and history. The visit to Poland will explore historic and contemporary Jewish life there.
Land costs for the Israel portion of the trip start at $3,206. Subsidies are available for people who reside and/or work in the East Bay or Napa.
A free public information session about the trip is scheduled for
7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 18 at the JCC of the East Bay, 1414 Walnut St., Berkeley. It includes a free screening of “The Return,” about contemporary life in Poland.
