Melanie Backman, daughter of Maureen and Sandy Backman of San Mateo, and Alex Kahn, son of Stacy and Ron Kahn of Foster City, were married Nov. 8, 2014 in Burlingame. Rabbi Lisa Kingston of Peninsula Temple Beth El officiated.

Melanie graduated from University of California Riverside with a B.S. degree in business administration. She works as a director of finance and accounting for Marriott. Alex graduated from San Diego State University with a B.S. degree in child and family development. He received his master’s at Cal State Hayward in public administration. He works as an operations manager for the County of San Diego.
