Correspondent | February 27, 2015 Mayim Bialik in Foster City photo/courtesy pjcc “The Big Bang Theory” star Mayim Bialik spoke to a sold-out crowd of 160 at the Peninsula Jewish Community Center in Foster City, touting math and science education for girls. Bialik’s Feb. 22 appearance was part of the PJCC’s “Then There Was Light: Jewish Contributions to Science, Medicine and Technology,” a series of exhibits, events and lectures celebrating Jewish innovation. The two-time Emmy nominee, who has a doctorate in neuroscience from UCLA, called her address “Girls, Get Your Geek On.” She spoke about her passion for science and her desire to help girls gain confidence to embrace studying science and pursue careers in the field.
