Egypt it’s not, but California’s Panamint Valley, just south of Death Valley in the northeastern reach of the Mojave Desert, is as starkly beautiful and demanding a landscape as any found in Scripture. It’s also the site of Wilderness Torah’s annual, five-day Passover in the Desert festival, held this year from April 9-13. Participants build a temporary encampment, share music, food and ritual, and, organizers say, “come close to the One when we journey to the wilderness as a tribe.”
