A crash course in Kubrickology. Stanley Kubrick was never known as a “Jewish filmmaker,” but he certainly was one of the all-time great directors, and, yes, he did “happen to have Jewish parents,” as he sometimes said (he grew up secular and also said he was “not really a Jew”). “Stanley Kubrick: The Exhibition” will cover the late director’s life from his start as a photographer to his death in 1999. It includes annotated scripts, production notes, set models, props and costumes from his movies, plus two of his uncompleted projects.
Opens Thursday, June 30 at the Contemporary Jewish Museum, 736 Mission St., S.F. Through Oct. 30. $13-$15, $8 after 5 p.m. Thursdays. www.thecjm.org
