Berkeley Hillel and a staff member at San Francisco Hillel were honored during Hillel International’s Global Assembly.
S.F. Hillel assistant director Rachel Nilson was presented with the Richard M. Joel Exemplar of Excellence Award. Among her accomplishments in her six years at Hillel, Nilson drafted a curriculum on inclusivity, created an interfaith Passover seder and Shabbat siddur, established a new Hillel chapter at the University of San Francisco, and re-established the Hastings Jewish Law Student Association at U.C. Hastings law school.
As part of the organization’s 2016 Drive to Excellence Awards, the Berkeley Hillel chapter was given its Great Place to Work award.
