In the Feb. 15 issue of the j., I was utterly impressed and touched by the article “Brandeis puts 13-years-olds in tzedakah driver’s seat.” It speaks volumes that seventh-graders can find it in their hearts to give up all their bar and bat mitzvah money in order to help a greater cause.
With each member being able to choose his or her own organization to fundraise for, it was clear that these 13-year-olds were passionate about their mission. The rest of us should take note of the remarkable achievement that these middle-schoolers made and make a conscious effort to give tzedakah in our own day-to-day lives.
