The Oshman Family JCC in Palo Alto has pledged to donate to Sharsheret during October, which is Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
Founded in 2011, Sharsheret (Hebrew for “chain”) is a New Jersey–based breast cancer support organization sensitive to the cultural needs of young Jewish women and their families.
The OFJCC will donate $10 to Sharsheret’s programming each time a new member joins its Goldman Sports and Wellness Complex or an existing member purchases a breast cancer awareness T-shirt.
OJFCC members and staff have begun wearing the T-shirts and posting their pictures on social media using the hashtag #ofjccpink. In addition, the OFJCC offers a free, 12-week small-group training program designed for adult cancer survivors who have become deconditioned or chronically fatigued from their treatment.
