Shalom Explorers is expanding.The program for Jewish families, with parents leading small groups of young children in educational activities, is growing beyond Marin, where it started last year. Shalom Explorers is geared for children K-2.
New groups are forming in the East Bay and on the Peninsula, as well as in Marin, where a pre-K group is also in the works.
Small groups meet in private homes for hands-on activities that explore Jewish values such as friendship, collaboration, community and protecting the environment. Participants also learn about Jewish holidays and Hebrew words through stories, art and creative play.
Operated under the auspices of Jewish LearningWorks, Shalom Explorers is funded by a grant from the Covenant Foundation, local federations, JCCs and synagogues, where Shalom Explorers families can attend holiday celebrations and other events.
