High school students will have the opportunity to check out more than 20 Jewish summer and gap-year programs at a free fair in Berkeley on Sunday, Dec. 7.
Representatives from camps, Israel trips and other Jewish programs will be on hand from 11:45 a.m. to 1:45 p.m. to talk to students about their summer offerings.
Now in its second year, the fair is sponsored by Berkeley Midrasha and NCSY, social and educational programs for Jewish teens.
Participating in a Jewish summer program has a huge impact in developing a teenager’s Jewish identity, according to Rabbi Akiva Naiman, NorCal director of NCSY and the fair’s organizer.
“I really want to stress that programs are affordable,” said Naiman, noting that scholarships and other forms of financial assistance are available for East Bay residents. “If your teen wants to go on a Jewish summer program, it can happen.”
The fair will be held at Congregation Beth El, 1301 Oxford St., Berkeley. For information, email Naiman at naimana
