Congregation Beth Ami in Santa Rosa will host “Defending Israel from Media Bias,” a three-day program featuring scholar-in-residence Gary Kenzer.
Kenzer is the North American executive director of Honest Reporting, which monitors the media for bias, inaccuracy or other breaches of journalistic standards in their coverage of Israel and the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
The event will begin on Jan. 9 with a Shabbat dinner (reservations required), followed by a talk about Honest Reporting. The Jan. 10 lineup includes examples of misinformation, disinformation and bias against Israel, and how it can be combated.
The sessions on Jan. 11 are for those who wish to learn about advocacy, be it through writing letters to the media or simply by being persuasive in discussions about the Israel-Palestinian situation.
