Steven and Barbara Segal

They are still dancing after all these years!

Steven and Barbara Segal of Berkeley were married 50 years ago, on Jan. 23, 1965, during a snowstorm. They are well loved and respected for their generosity and service to the Jewish community.

They met as camp counselors at Camp Wel-Met in Barryville, New York. On the day they met, Barbara commented to her friends about “the guy in the 97S Hunter College T-shirt” and was impressed by Steve’s knowledge of Israeli folk dancing. For 40 years now, they have been members of a Jewish folk dance chug, which still meets once a month.

Steve and Barbara have two children, who love and admire them. Matt lives with his wife, Corrie, and daughter, Abby, in Seattle, Washington, where he practices law. Jennifer lives with her husband, Shai, and son, Amir, in Ben Lomond, California, where she is a faculty member at Cabrillo College. Their grandson, Amir, particularly loves cooking matzah ball soup with his grandmother, and biking and fishing with his grandfather. Their granddaughter, Abby, loves reading stories with Grandma and taking long stroller walks with Grandpa.
