Lydia and Douglas Shorenstein will be among the honorees at next week’s Fammy Awards Gala, the annual fundraiser and dinner for S.F.-based Jewish Family and Children’s Services.
The event will be held March 21 at the Ritz-Carlton in San Francisco.
The Shorensteins, through their Preisler Shorenstein Institute, support the JFCS Holocaust Center’s annual Day of Learning, which brings together hundreds of Northern California middle and high school students for an intensive day of study about the origins of the Holocaust and other instances of genocide. It took place this year on March 8 at Galileo High School in San Francisco.
Other honorees at the 31st annual event include employees of Cleanerific, a commercial and residential cleaning company started 10 years ago by JFCS as a social enterprise, and Tamar Sofer-Geri, who formed a support network for parents whose children have juvenile diabetes.
With more than 40 programs, JFCS annually serves more than 78,000 children, families and older adults from the Peninsula to Sonoma County. Many are facing life transitions and personal crises.
The Fammy Awards Gala starts with a 6:30 p.m. cocktail reception and includes a silent auction, dinner, dancing and an awards ceremony. Tickets start at $225. For information, visit www.jfcs.org or contact Deborah Giattina at (415) 449-1256 or [email protected].
