Two local training rides in advance of Hazon’s annual bike ride through Sonoma County and into San Francisco have been scheduled, as has an informational meeting about a bike ride in Israel this fall.

On April 6 at a private home in Marin, information on the 2015 Israel Ride, from Jerusalem to the Red Sea, will be available from past riders and staff. The five-day ride supports the Arava Institute and Hazon.

Hazon Bay Area, meanwhile, is planning its 2015 California Ride and Retreat — which combines nature, biking, Shabbat, healthy food and community — for May 7-10. Last year, more than 115 people, including 70 riders, took part.

On April 12, two free training rides are scheduled: a 14-miler in Berkeley and a 25-miler in Palo Alto. In addition, an 18-mile ride with 1,800 feet of elevation gain is slated for Sunday, March 29 in Oakland.

The California ride, based in Petaluma, will include 40-, 60- or 80-mile loop rides on Friday, and/or 40- and 60-mile routes on Sunday into San Francisco. Through sponsorships, riders last year raised more than $82,000 for local Hazon programs.
