We have two children, Jason and Alex, ages 5 and 3, respectively. They both attend Temple Sinai Preschool in Oakland.
My husband works at Berkeley Systems, a software company that produces best sellers such as “After Dark” and “You Don’t Know Jack.”
These products, however, do not cut the mustard for our kids! It’s my husband’s work environment the children love. They especially love a yellow, circular slide that goes from the second floor down into the cafeteria. They slide down it a million times and this provides hours of enjoyment. They also like grabbing a free soda while in the cafeteria.
I love it when the kids visit my husband’s work, too, since I get some well-deserved quiet time, and because it wears out the boys!
Last year, on Israel Independence Day, at school, our older child made a beautiful birthday cake for Israel. He was very excited by this sweet-tasting project and described it vividly to me, down to the flag he used for decorating it.
At dinner that evening, my son asked my husband, “Daddy, did you celebrate Israel’s birthday at work today?” In his world view, everybody is Jewish, every company celebrates the Jewish holidays and everybody’s dad has a slide at work.
